I just listened to your interview with Dr. Helmsletter,. The conversation is very inspiring and motivating. I got the feeling that there is hope and together each in their own cormer of the world can make a difference in the life of others.Thank you so much for having this conversation. I have done some work on self-talk and during the height of the pandemic in 2020 I started writing and recording my positive self-talk statements. I could not really understand from your conversation if the recording in a person’s own voice well ever be effective or not and so create the desired results. Can youplease explain more on this. Thank you, for being a part of this wonderful world.
Thanks for the feedback. What I understood from Dr. Helmstetter is it’s most effective if it’s in your own voice, but since very few people take the time to record themselves, he offers recordings others can use. I have subscribed to his app SelfTalk Plus and also recorded my own.
Dr. Helmstetter’s self-talk methods should be taught in every school around the world. Children everywhere (and their parents) should be exposed to the benefits of daily self-talk.
It also wouldn’t hurt to introduce these practices to convicts, so they could have a positive and therapeutic “antidote” to the oppressively negative environment in which they must live.
I wish there were a radio station or podcast that played uplifting self-talk for people to hear while at work or on the road.
There is a bright future for this therapy and many, many opportunities for its beneficial use. 🙂
