In this video, I talk about Jesus, the Bible (The Gospels in the New Testament), The Book of Matthew, love, and the most important rule to follow (or commandment).

In The Book of Matthew, Matthew wrote, “Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, ‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?’ Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’” So according to Jesus, these two commandments are the most important: love God, and love your neighbour as yourself. But what do these two commandments actually mean, and what do they look like when you really live them out?

Behind them both, is really just one rule, and I think it is the most important rule in Jesus’ teaching: approach the world with complete attention—attention with the intention of understanding, attention that leads to endless learning. Remain curious, and don’t judge, and don’t make conclusions. Be in a constant state of learning. When you do this, you approach the world from a place of love. And I think that’s the core of Jesus’ teaching: love.

Because when you approach the world with love, you become capable of endless learning, and when you become capable of endless learning, you become capable of discerning the relationship between your actions and their outcomes, and when you become capable of discerning the relationship between your actions and their outcomes, you can start to shape your life in the direction of your choice.

  1. This channel has possibly the most fascinating, thought-provoking videos ever. As a passionate Christian, I’m pleasantly surprised to see you featuring a lesson from Jesus. 😊

    1. @Mark Savoia I’m sorry if I seem to be making light of your comments 😅 But to be fair, I don’t have any idea what your comment had to do with what I said, either. I also can’t tell whether you think Jesus colonizing the world is a good thing or a bad thing. So all in all, I’m quite confused, and I’m not sure how to take what you’re saying seriously. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    2. @Mark Savoia However, anyone who uses “lmao” unironically while talking about religion has automatically discredited themselves 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

  2. God is the friends we made along the way.

Edit: Meme aside, the in depth explanation of the 2 rules are very practical and people should consider keeping their minds open in a constantly changing world, as well as to not let despair take over, pretty refreshing. Thank you.

  3. I think perhaps that it’s more about moral duty. Loving others and God are less about you and more about others. The goal is to be the light of the world and spread love, but to be the lowest of the low, detached from greed, honor, or praise.
I think attention is a good understanding of love, but maybe phrased like “that which is of utmost importance to you”, which then makes loving god and others a sort of obligation or goal. I suppose I appreciate this take, but I’d emphasize that Jesus was about others first and foremost.

  4. You are helping me improve my life day by day and i never came across a better resource for it. Thank you

  5. through the expression of love unto your neighbor is the expression of love towards God, as we are created in his own image and therefore my understanding is we are the very same force that creates orderly land out of chaotic waters.

  6. Great attention and love you put into all your videos! Thanks for sharing your experiences

  7. This is alike with Tolkien’s take on God and man. While Eru Iluvatar gave the freedom of choice to his creations, the ultimate outcome of the choices remain in Eru’s hands alone.

  8. A truly profound new way of looking at the concept of love and divinity. Thank you so much for sharing this sublime insight with us. Your pearls have not been cast before swine. 💙

  9. Jesus or the character of Jesus is continually someone that answers questions that demands mankind be more loving and understanding instead of predatory and destructive to survive. That type of living would truly separate us from we what we consider animalistic behavior.

  10. I love god by watching this video with attention and intention of learning more, and loving all you guys behind of the creation of the content and make acessible to us these provocations. How great is to experience life, being curious about it. I´m addicted to live
