We all have coping mechanisms to help us get through life’s ups and downs. Some people choose to exercise, others might bite their fingernails, take a daytrip out to nature, the list goes on and on.
While the intention behind coping mechanisms is always well and good, it’s clear that some strategies are more effective than others in helping us heal over the long term. In fact, some coping mechanisms are actually hurting us more than they’re helping us.

Love this! I am going through my own journey to heal from trauma and I used to keep people at a distance. I also used drugs to self medicate in the past, I went through homelessness as a child, had to change that scarcity mindset. The mind is incredible and it’s endlessly fascinating how just by changing your perspective you can change your life!

Overcoming childhood trauma should be the priority for many adults before getting into a relationship and becoming parents. The cycle should be healed and stopped.
I agree 👍, but I had 1 child before I knew I had a mental diagnosis.

Trauma is the inability to be present – OMG 😣 yes when my trauma was re-triggered for the first time, I spent the next 2-3 years completely looping in repeating thoughts and barely present for life. This was sooo frustrating and hard!! Never found a therapist able to understand this 😡
